The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the world’s longest sea-crossing bridge, represents a monumental collaboration under the “One Country, Two Systems” framework between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.
In 2018, IEC Inc., in partnership with BASF Watson Bowman Acme and Sanfield Industries, formed a consortium to manage the design, production, supply, and installation of the bridge’s expansion joints for the Hong Kong section.

Project Highlights:
· Technical Challenges: The bridge is regarded as a “super project” in China’s bridge construction history, featuring complex engineering and challenging conditions, including high temperature and humidity in the marine environment. These conditions demanded stringent structural and anti-corrosion design requirements for the expansion joints.
· Engineering Excellence: Since 2016, IEC’s technical team undertook the design of the expansion joints, integrating international standards and adapting to the project’s unique needs. After multiple rounds of refinement and approval, the supply and installation of the expansion joints were completed in March 2018 in collaboration with international partners.
· Recognition: IEC was the sole domestic supplier of expansion joints for the Hong Kong section of the bridge.
Global Achievement: This project marked another major milestone for IEC, following its successes in the Doha NOH2 expansion joint project for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the main pavilion bearing project for Expo 2020 Dubai. These accomplishments underscore IEC’s growing competitiveness and the strength of “Made in China” in global engineering.
